How to Make a Lovely Pink Rose Petal Body Scrub or Bath Soak

Here is my all natural recipe for an herbal Rose Petal salt or sugar body scrub. This recipe can also be used as a romantic, detoxifying bath soak, too. This versatile recipe doubles as either a scrub or bath soak and makes a lovely handmade gift!

There is a reason roses are one of the best flowers for Valentines Day--or any time. They are beautiful, romantic, and just about everyone loves the romantic aphrodisiac scent of roses. They are also exceptional for your skin health.

Why not make a rose scented body scrub as a great gift for a friend, or even yourself? There's nothing quite as pampering and spa-like as the scent of roses as you give ourself beautifully soft skin.

You can partner this Rose Body Scrub with:

Rose Petal Salve,

Rose Petal Handmade Soap,

and perhaps some Rosy Chocolate Chai loose leaf tea! What an awesome rose-themed gift basket all these items would make (just an idea)!

How to Make Rose Petal Body Scrub

This scrub is incredibly simple to make, and you only need a few easy ingredients. You will need some rose petals, though, and if you are not fortunate enough to have rose bushes, you can purchase organic rose petals from Amazon or Starwest Botanicals

If you are using fresh rose petals, you'll need to dry them first. You can get directions for drying them in this article: How to Make Rose Petal Salve.

A note on organic:

Roses are one of the most highly pesticide sprayed commercial plants. It’s VERY important that you choose to buy organic rose petals or buds for your tea and skincare products you make. I do not recommend using petals from a florist.

 Ingredients for Rose Body Scrub:

1 cup sea salt or Himalayan pink salt, finely ground (You can use sugar as well.)

1 tablespoon crushed or coarsely ground rose petals

25 drops Rose Geranium essential oil

20 drops Vanilla Botanical Extract (from Plant Therapy) or you can use regular vanilla extract and double the drops.

5 drops Ylang Ylang essential oil

For my explanation of why I didn't use Rose essential oil or (GASP!) fragrance oil, visit How to Make Rose Petal Salve.

Directions:

In a good sized bowl (I used a large soup bowl), combine all the ingredients well. I just stirred the mixture up well using a fork until I felt the essential oils were completely mixed in.

Now just spoon your mixture into cute little jars for gifting or using yourself. I got my jars at Hobby Lobby, but you can also get them on Amazon!

To Use Rose Petal Scrub as a Soak and/or a Skin Scrub:

You probably noticed I didn't add any carrier oil to this scrub (yet). That's because I have found people like different oils and different amounts of oil in their body scrubs. Personally, I prefer very little oil. In fact, just a couple tablespoons in the recipe above would be fine for me.

To Use as a Bath Soak:

Also, without the oil added in at this point, you could use this as a nice bath soak instead of a body scrub. Just add a couple of tablespoons to your bath water and soak the toxins away in a rose-scented tub!

To Use as a Body Exfoliating Scrub:

Add the amount of carrier oil of choice to the jar. Stir well. Dip out a bit and enjoy the detoxifying and skin softening benefits of the scrub and oils and you massage this onto your skin in either the shower or tub.

My favorite oils to use in scrubs are either olive oil or almond oil. Olive oil is especially moisturizing and conditioning for your skin. Almond oil has the benefit of soaking into your skin more quickly due to its emollient quality. There are other oils to choose from too!

Final Thoughts on Rose Petal Body Scrub/Bath Soak

You know what I love about this scrub/bath soak?

It's the color!

The ground rose petals give it a beautiful pink tint. Even if you use White Sea salt, your scrub will be a beautiful light pink. Isn't that perfect for Valentine's Day? Or any time?

Also---I just am in LOVE with the essential oil combination here. The Love Vanilla essential oil blend from Plant Therapy is just delicious. You could even use it by itself it's that good. You just won't have the rose overtones that way though.

Bath scrubs are so easy to make, and I honestly don't know why I don't make more of them more often. They are simple, inexpensive, yet such thoughtful gifts. Also, they are the perfect way to pamper yourself---and you deserve it!
