Three BEST Fall Essential Oil Recipes That Will Clean the Air in Your Home, Boost Your Immune System, and Make Your Home Smell GREAT!

I love playing around with essential oil blends for scenting my home all year round. Especially in the fall and winter, when a cozy home is a wonderful thing, essential oils are a must! Scent is undeniably one of the most important aspects of your environment. Here are some beautiful essential oils blends for your Fall home!

There are many ways to create a beautiful, comforting home atmosphere, and natural, non-toxic fragrance is one of them.

I prefer essential oils over candles because they last a long time and don’t require a flame (although I do love my homemade beeswax candles). Also, they don’t have the toxins that commercial fragrances and candles often contain!

Essential oils can even clean the air in your home, killing micro-organisms that cause illness. You can find out more about how essential oils’ capabilities to do this in this article.

Essential Oil Blends for Fall

I thought I’d share some of my favorite essential oil blends specifically for the Fall with you! I think you’ll love these all the time, but especially now.

NOTE: You can drop these into your diffuser in these amounts listed below, OR you can do what I do, and use the same ratios to add to a larger 5 or 10 mL essential oil bottle so you always have your ready-made blends on hand.

Also, making greater quantities of your favorite blends like this allows you to:

  • have your blend ready to go at all times

  • give bottles of your homemade blends as thoughtful gifts to friends

  • allows you to have a good quantity ready so you can make an essential oil spray or natural perfume.

These are called stock blends, and when you find a combination you like, it’s a great idea to make up 10 ml or so! In case you’re wondering about amounts, 10 ml is about 200 drops. You can buy amber glass essential oil bottles with dropper tops here. They’re not expensive, either!

All you have to do is increase the ratio of the blends accordingly. So if you want twice as much, just double the drops. If you want ten times as much, 10X the number of drops, and so on.

Easy peasy!

You can keep your blends in dark amber glass bottles in different amounts, such as 10 mL, 1/2 ounce, and even greater, like 2 ounces!

Now, here are my favorite essential oil diffuser blends! You can even add these to your potpourri. (Potpourri is basically dried botanicals for decoration and scent. You can dry your own plants or purchase them unscented.)

Pumpkin Pie Blend

3 drops cinnamon essential oil

2 drops nutmeg essential oil

1 drop clove essential oil

1 drop ginger essential oil

1 drop cardamom essential oil (optional)

You can see these are classic pumpkin pie spice scents! If you love the smell of pumpkin pie, you’ll love this aroma blend.

And did you know?

**The smell of cinnamon is probably an aphrodisiac for the man in your life!

Golden Autumn Sun

The sunshine in the fall is such a welcome blessing! And so is this lovely, warming blend with a hint of citrus and evergreen….

2 drops cinnamon essential oil

2 drops orange essential oil

1 drop juniper essential oil

This woodsy-spicy-citrus blend is refreshing and uplifting, while scenting your home with deliciousness!

Cozy Day Blend

When it’s cold outside, there’s nothing better than a warm home that smells fabulous! This blend contains sandalwood, which is an amazing essential oil found in deep, musky colognes.

Used in this blend, it provides a base of sensuous warmth, while the evergreen scents clarify your mind. I think you’ll really like this one!

2 drops sandalwood essential oil (you could substitute with vetiver, which will save a bit of money)

2 drops cinnamon essential oil

1 or 2 drops fir or pine essential oil

This is another blend that everyone enjoys, including men.

What is the Best Diffuser to Use?

There are several kinds of essential oil diffusers.

There are evaporative diffusers, which simply allow the essential oils to evaporate naturally into the air. You also have ultrasonic diffusers, which are the most common. And, finally, there are nebulizers.

Each type of diffuser has its strengths and pluses, but I’d have to say nebulizers are my favorite overall. You can find a complete rundown with all the details of different diffuser options in this article.

If you’d prefer a video, I discuss diffusers here on my YouTube channel, too. (Please subscribe)

But here are links to my favorites in each category on Amazon:

Where to Buy Your Essential Oils and NOT Break the Bank

So, by now, with the essential oil craze going strong, we all know that essential oils are relatively expensive. Especially good quality essential oils, right?

But there are companies out there where you can purchase high quality, tested essential oils that aren’t going to cost you an arm and leg.

Here are my best criteria I use to choose companies that sell high quality, yet affordable essential oils.

**If I’m going to be breathing it in (or my family and pets) I do want to be sure I’ve got high quality EO’s, but I’ve learned that some companies, especially the MLM’s, are way overpriced.

Please be sure you’re purchasing from a company that sources their own oils and isn’t purchasing bulk oils and re-labeling them. These are NOT going to be high quality essential oils, and are most likely unsustainably harvested.

The links above are for Amazon, but my favorite companies to purchase from are:

Plant Therapy and Rocky Mountain Oils.

Plant Therapy is a high quality company with a Kidsafe line you can trust. Their prices are reasonable for the quality too.

Rocky Mountain Oils has been around a very long time, have a great reputation, and exceptionally high quality essential oils. Their prices are a little higher, but it’s worth it.

Both companies have organic options and an area for education, too.

Finally, if you find you need quality essential oils in a greater quantity than 5 or 10mL bottles, I suggest Starwest Botanicals. This is where I buy my essential oils for soap making as well as for using around the house.

I know many people say there is “only” one best company to purchase essential oils from. Don’t buy it. You can absolutely find quality essential oils that fit your budget too.

Make a homemade natural room spray or diffuser blend that will make your home smell A-Mazing AND clean the air and boost your immune system at the same time.

What Else Can You Do With Your Essential Oil Blends Besides Diffuse Them?

You can use essential oils in all kinds of ways! Here are some easy options so you can really put your essential oils to work:

1) Use them in your cleaning products!

You can make an easy all-purpose cleaning spray like this one. Try using one of the blends above for a Fall scented cleaner!

2) Make a room spray

You can see how to make a room spray using essential oils on my YouTube channel right here.

Essentially, you just combine a bit of your essential oil blend (2% to 5% dilution) with some distilled water (73%, approximately) and 25% 190 proof vodka or denatured alcohol. Shake, spray, and enjoy!

These make great additions to your bathroom, too!

3) Natural Perfume: Solid, Spray, or Roll-On

You’ll love these options for extending the usefulness of your essential oil blends! You can find out how to make all of these kinds of convenient natural perfumes and body scents in this link.

Safety Factors

Cinnamon, clove, ginger, and cardamom are “hot” oils, and should never be used “neat” or directly on the skin. In addition, orange essential oil may cause phototoxicity if used on skin in the sun.

Be sure you do your research before using herbs or essential oils for health reasons. See disclaimer below.
